Two Types of Freedom

In the Full Range Strength System, the words “freedom,” “free will,” “liberty” and “liberation”
have the following meanings.

First, they refer to self-determination: the ability given by Nature for an individual to choose actions without coercion.  

Secondly, they refer to independence, which literally means non-dependence: the ability to provide for yourself and your loved ones by your own efforts through honest work.

Thirdly, they refer to the ability to make conscious choices to produce envisioned (imagined) and desired outcomes.   

Freedom contrasts with bondage, which refers to existence in which your ability to choose is constrained or determined by either external or internal limiters.  Many people make the mistake of focusing on freedom from external limiters, while remaining slaves to internal limiters. 

Two Types of Freedom

Many modern people focus on the first meaning mentioned above.  They understand freedom as nothing more than the opportunity to say and do whatever one desires to say or do.  The Powers That Be (PTB) actually exploit this; they convince people that libertinism is liberty, because they know you can control people through their vices.

Since Nature allows every one to do whatever one desires to do, I do not believe any human has the “authority” to tell anyone else how to live his or her life.  To paraphrase Stuart Wilde, Nature allows every one to be as silly as s/he wants, as long as s/he wants.  So long as any individual is not infringing on the life, liberty or property of anyone else, no one has any business interfering in that individual’s silliness.

Nevertheless, this libertinism is fake freedom.  It rests on an assumption that all of your desires are wise and authentic, coming from your illumined higher Self, rather than from delusion or external sources. 

For example, you are free to indulge in junk food or pornography (either as provider or consumer) if you want, but does this indulgence itself increase your freedom? 

On the contrary.  Junk food makes you sick and weak, which limits your functional ability and therefore freedom.  Consuming pornography turns you into an addict and destroys your ability to enjoy sex and create healthy intimate relationships. 

If your allegedly “free” choices produce results you do not want, and do not make you stronger, healthier, more independent, happier and more fulfilled, can you really call that “freedom”?

Here it is helpful to realize that there are two aspects to freedom:  freedom to, and freedom from.  These may overlap but are not identical.

Most people focus on freedom to, meaning freedom to speak, freedom to act, in whatever way they want.  They pay little or no attention to the consequences of their actions.  Many even attempt to deny culpability for the consequences of their own actions. 

Natural Law dictates the consequences of any action. By Nature you are free to choose action, but not free to determine the consequences. You can’t do whatever you want, and yet demand results different from those determined by Natural Law.   Nature lets you do whatever you want, AND holds you responsible for the consequences.

If your exercise of so-called freedom to leads you into suffering or slavery, what good is it? For example, you may have freedom to use alcohol, but if exercising that freedom leads you to alcoholism or liver cirrhosis, are you really justified in considering yourself free? 

This underscores the point that knowledge – of Natural Law – is the fundamental path to the ability to envision and create your own health, strength, and prosperity by free will.

Thus, to become free, seek freedom from ignorance, false beliefs, and avoidable and especially self-imposed suffering.

Slavery is slavery, whether you are a slave to an external master, or an internal master.
